Gary M. Smith, Age 83, passed away on October 27, 2020. He was born September 17, 1937 in Hartford, MI to Durwood and Joanna (Vliek) Smith. Gary was a loving Husband, Father and Grandfather. A graduate of Western Michigan University, Gary spent the majority of his professional career as a Sales Manager for Ronningen-Petter/Dover Corporation in Portage, MI. He married Judyth K. Linders in 1964, and soon began his family life. The two were blessed with three sons: Jeffrey, Gregory, and Brian. Gary took great pride in his family, spiritual and professional life. An avid angler, he enjoyed many summers in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to fish the bountiful lakes and streams. Gary was always at the ready to lend a helping hand or a sympathetic ear to those in need. He and Judy were long-time members of Lakeland Reformed Church in Vicksburg, MI. Gary was proceeded in death by his parents, his loving wife Judy, his middle son Greg, and his brother-in-law William Jackson. He is survived by his sons Jeffrey Smith, Brian (Nicole) Smith, and his three grandsons Nathan, Tyler, and Jack. Also surviving are his sister Shirley Jackson and brother John (Jan) Smith; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and a small grave side memorial and entombment is being planned for the immediate family due to the current state and restrictions of Covid-19. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Lawton Athletics, P.O. Box 39, Lawton, MI 49065.
