Gene John Newell

Gene Newell (age 73) passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Gene was preceded in death by his parents Clare and Martha (Fleser) Newell. Gene was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed at Michigan Department of Natural Resources for approximately 20 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper. Gene is survived by four brothers and four sisters-in-law, Gale and Kathleen Newell, James and Sue Newell, Keith and Bette Newell, and Lynn and Eileen Newell. He is also surveyed by twelve nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends. Donations in Gene's honor may be made to the Burnips Methodist Church, 4241 30th St., Burnips, Michigan 49314 or to Great Lakes Caring Hospice, 6120 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo, Michigan. A private family memorial will take place at a later date.
