George Cavazos

George Cavazos, born on August 17, 1965, in Weslaco, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Throughout his life, George embodied the spirit of hard work and dedication, traits he carried with him from his upbringing in a farming family in Donna, Texas.

From a young age, George learned the value of labor, working tirelessly in the fields alongside family and friends. This connection to the land and life outdoors instilled in him a profound appreciation for nature that he carried into adulthood. He graduated from Donna High School, where he indulged his love for sports by playing baseball, football, and track, forging memories that would last a lifetime.

As a devoted family man, George's pride resided in his wife, Lorraine, with whom he shared an extraordinary 31years of marriage. Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them, showcasing a partnership filled with love, support, and companionship. George's greatest joy was undoubtedly in witnessing the achievements of his three children. He dedicated himself to coaching Little League baseball and Rocket football, cheering on his sons from the sidelines and making sure to never miss a game or practice. His unwavering support extended to his daughter, whom he proudly watched play in early morning soccer games, exemplifying the commitment of a father who cherished every moment spent with his children.

George worked as a farmer, managing greenhouses in the Kalamazoo area. His hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed, as he contributed deeply to the local community, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and generosity. Known for his legendary grilling and barbecuing skills, George had a genuine talent for bringing people together through food. He opened his home to family, friends, and anyone who needed a meal, never allowing anyone to leave hungry. The warmth of his cooking was matched only by the warmth of his heart, making every gathering a cherished event filled with laughter and connection.

As we say goodbye to George, let us carry forward his spirit of generosity, his love for family, and his passion for life. His legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him.
