George Elvis Large

LARGE, George Elvis Mendon Passed away Dec 23, 2010 at Bronson Hospital. George was born March 30,1929 in Goshen IN (the son of Lehman and Florence (Poff) Large. He was a Navy veteran of World War 11, a lifetime member of VFW Post 4898, member of American Legion Post 0225. George enjoyed working in his garden and sharing the wonderful results. He hosted many parties for family and friends including Easter egg hunts and fish "smoke outs". His main goal was to see everyone having fun. Loved to travel nationwide. He sought out adventures that many travelers would never attempt. Was a colorful character and loved his dog Duke. Surviving is his loving wife of 40 years Nancy, children; Terrence (Sherry) Large, Lonnie Large, Garth (Linda) Large, Kerwin Large, Neiven Large, Tara (Large) Rhoda, Janet Van Patten, 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, sisters; Dorothy, Hinckley, C. Pauline Walker and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his first wife of 17 years, Monica (Flach) Large in 1964 and a sister Catherine Berndt. At his request, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or services at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
