Gerald “Jerry” Fenner, of Plainwell, died peacefully at Bronson Hospital on Friday, November 22, 2024. Jerry was born January 12, 1934, to Gerald and Evelyn Fenner. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Kathryn, first wife Pat and stepson Mike Welcher.
Jerry was a farmer by trade enjoying being outside and caring for the land. His love for his family showed through everything he did. He was a caregiver for his first wife, Pat, as well as his current wife, Marilyn.
Among Jerry’s fondest memories of growing up was his time spent playing football for the Plainwell Trojans. He often spoke of his teammates as well as his coach Jack Streidel.
Jerry is survived by his wife Marilyn, his sister Sandra (Fenner) Eberly as well as his children: Louise (David) Hubbard, Jerry (Joni) Fenner, John (Terry) Fenner, Karen (Frank) Andrews, and six grandchildren. Also surviving are 3 stepchildren: Christine (Jon) Campbell, Jeff (Carol) Welcher, Stacy Welcher; 6 step grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren.
Memorials in Jerry’s memory can be made to the Fenner Family Legacy Scholarship through the Allegan County Community Foundation 112 Locust Street, Allegan, MI 49010.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Avink McCowen Secord Funeral Home, 120 S. Woodhams St., Plainwell, Michigan 49080. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Reverend Dan Minor will be officiating. A luncheon and internment will follow.
