Gerald N. Geddings, Sr.

1932-2022

Gerald (Jerry) Geddings Sr, 90, passed away at his home in Portage after a short illness. Gerald was born September 1932 to Edward and Mille Geddings in Mason City, IL. His siblings Jay, Sidney, Doris and Eva preceded him in death. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central H.S. and joined the U.S. Air Force.

Gerald married his wife Beverly, who proceeds him in death, on September 4, 1951, and celebrated 70 years together. Together, they raised 4 children.

Gerald was known as a great, kind man with a superior sense of humor. He loved telling jokes, life stories, reading, writing, arithmetic and playing cards at the casino (as those of us that know him are well aware).

Gerald worked 35 years and retired at age 55 from the Upjohn company. He and Beverly enjoyed traveling and eventually landed in Mission, TX. They divided their time between Portage and Texas.

Gerald is survived by 3 children: Gerald (Carol) Geddings Jr., Peggy (Jim) Doxey, Kenneth (Amy) Geddings and Russell Geddings (deceased); Grandchildren: Josh (Tamara) Geddings, Jeremy (Angella) Geddings, Timothy (Betsy) Geddings, Evan Doxey, Noah Geddings and Alexis Geddings. And the family line continues with the great grandchildren who he dearly loves.

A celebration of life for Gerald and Beverly Geddings will be held at the Portage Senior Center (west end), 203 Centre Street on November 6^th, 2022, from 1 – 4 PM

Per Gerald’s request, donations can be made in Gerald’s name to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or Bronson Cancer Center.
