On October 30th, 2013 our Mother Geraldine (Toothman) Bongers lost her battle with cancer. She was preceeded in death by her parents, Howard and Juanita Snow and sister Sybil Rodenberger, and a very special niece and nephew Pat and Tom Pearson.
Mom was born in Kalamazoo in 1931, graduated from Comstock High and attended WMU. She worked at Upjohn's in her early years.
After marriage, when we came along, Mom stayed at home to be a great homemaker, Mother and wife to three little girls. Mom was a wonderful cook, seamstress and decorator, but her heart was truly with serving Jehovah with Bible study and a strong belief in spreading the Word of God. She was a faithful servant of Jehovah for over 50 years.
In her late 40's she found the true partner of her life, John Bongers. Married for over twenty years they enjoyed refurbishing homes, traveling and a wonderful retirement. We lost our dad John, a really great guy, 13 years ago to cancer. He is truly missed by both us girls and mom.
Mom showed great strength and resolve in battling the many different cancers she suffered throughout the last 30 years of her life. She was very strong and determined to live life to its fullest.
She will be so missed by her daughters - Elizabeth and Brian Moore, Kerry and Bob Dickson and Jeannette Lyman. Also saddened are Mom's 6 grandchildren and 3 cute great-grandchildren. Mom's beloved cat, Zoe, misses her dearly also.
