Geraldine Mabel VanderBor

Gerry VanderBor, 91, passed away February 1, 2021. She was born June 29, 1929 in Kalamazoo, MI. The daughter of Ralph and Alice (McCarty) Branch. Gerry and her loving husband, Arthur VanderBor Sr. were married for 67 years. During that time, they enjoyed traveling throughout Michigan and taking many day trips to Shipshewana. They truly savored the time they spent together visiting Holland and the beaches of Lake Michigan, especially South Haven. After 30 dedicated years of service, Gerry retired from The Upjohn Company. Yearning for warmer weather, they spent many winters in Florida after retirement. Gerry maintained an active lifestyle throughout her lifetime and enjoyed many hours working in her yard. She was especially fond of her perennial gardens, which were her pride and joy. She also greatly enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. Surviving is her son, Arthur Jr. (Karen) VanderBor; two grandsons: Jason (Jodie) VanderBor and Brian (Michelle) VanderBor; six great-grandchildren: Yazmene VanderBor, Trenton VanderBor, Jacob VanderBor, Alexus Haumanis, Brooke Hausmanis and Haley Hausmanis; sister: Mae Oswalt; sisters-in-laws: Pauline Houtkooper, Nellie Peterson and Mary Branch; brother-in-law: Ed VanderBor; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gerry is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur VanderBor Sr., (May of 2015); her parents: Ralph and Alice Branch; sisters: Mary Jane and Barbara; brothers: Marion and Franklin. Per Gerry's wishes, cremation has taken place and there is to be no formal visitation. A private graveside memorial service will be held at a later date for family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Gerry can be made to the Kalamazoo Air Zoo, 6151 Portage Road, Portage MI 49002 or to a charity of your choice.
