Gordon L. Mitchell

Gordon L. Mitchell, of Fulton passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020 at the age of 89. Gordon was born on November 6, 1931 in East LeRoy, MI. He was the son of Roe and Opal (Chichester) Gordy married his high school sweetheart Mildred (Snyder) Mitchell on January 22nd, 1950 and lived on their family farm for almost 60 years. He retired after 30 years as an electrician at Clark Equipment and spent more years in retirement than he did working. Gordy loved Oliver tractors and you could often find him in a barn restoring them. He and Mildred “Punk” were members of The Oliver Gang Antique Tractor Club for over 25 years where they met many great friends from Indiana and Ohio. Some of his favorite past activities include hunting, fishing, and farming. He liked to travel and see the countryside and especially liked going up north to see the fall colors. He enjoyed singing in the church choir and karaoke around town. He had a love for ice cream and enjoyed sharing it with his grandchildren when they visited. More than anything Gordy loved his family. The family gatherings on the Mitchell farm were loved by all! Survived by his six children: Sue Bailey; Doug (Kathy) Mitchell; Gary Mitchell; Nancy Edwards; Randy Mitchell; and Patti Mitchell; 19 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, and special friend Harriet Leins. He is also survived by one brother Frank Mitchell and sister Fern Bishop, and several nieces and nephews. Gordon is preceded in death by: Wife Mildred Mitchell; son Michael Mitchell; daughter Judy Denny and grandson Chad Mitchell; parents: Roe and Opal Mitchell; two brothers Eldon Mitchell and Bert Mitchell; two sisters Florence Wank and Mary Crowell. Because of the current health restrictions by the State of Michigan, cremation has taken place and a memorial gathering will be held at a later date at the Mitchell Family Farm.
