Gordon Thor passed away on May 10, 2010. He was 88 years old. He was born June 6, 1921 in Three Rivers, MI, son of Fred and Mabel (White) Thor. Gordon joined the Army Reserve in 1938, then was active duty 1941-45. He was an army cook. He graduated from Wittenburg College, Springfield, OH with a bachelor's degree in music. He married Colleen Audrey Smith in 1948. He was a music teacher for a short period, then worked at Valley Metal, Plainwell, Hammond Machinery Builders, Otsego, then took his last job before retirement at the city of Kalamazoo as a purchaser. He was an avid reader, a skilled carpenter and a real jack-of-all-trades. He loved listening to a variety of music - especially classical, jazz, and pop from the 1950's. He enjoyed cooking, making plum jam and baking cookies and rhubarb pies. Surviving are his wife Colleen, daughters Shannon and Alison, son Steven, niece Nancy Smith, grandchildren Jessica, Andrea and Michael Penick, and great granddaughter Jaida Wilson. He is preceded in death by his sister Genevra, brother Stanley, and son Christopher.
