Gregory Allen Taylor, a beloved member of the Vicksburg community, passed away on May 10, 2024, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by those who had the pleasure of known him. Good chance if you met Greg once he always would remember your name and he left a lasting impression.
Throughout his career spanning over 25 years, Gregory dedicated himself to managing the Krichke Training Center in Vicksburg with a passion for Arabian Show Horses that was truly unmatched. His expertise and experience in this field were very much appreciated by the training center.
Born on October 11, 1962, in Vicksburg, MI, Gregory attended Vicksburg Community Schools and graduating from Vicksburg High School with the Class of 1980. It was during these formative years that his zest for life and dedication to his pursuits began to shine through.
Gregory's warm and jovial personality endeared him to all who crossed his path. Described by his family as kind and friendly with a penchant for jokes, he also possessed a strong-willed nature that spoke to his determination and resilience in the face of challenges.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Gregory found joy in simple pleasures such as working with horses and following the Detroit Red Wings and watching John Wayne movies. His love for these pastimes brought him solace amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
While Gregory may have had a tendency to run on "Taylor Time" - famously being late for everything - it only added to his charm and quirkiness that made him so endearing to friends and family alike. Additionally, he cherished moments spent at the casino, relishing the excitement that came with each visit.
In his passing, Gregory leaves behind a host of grieving family members and friends who will fondly remember him for his infectious laughter, unwavering spirit, and genuine kindness. Though he may no longer walk among us, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Gregory Allen Taylor's life serves as a testament to the power of passion, dedication, and love - qualities that will continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps.
Greg was preceded in death by his father Allen “Al” Taylor in 2000; and his uncles Richard and Robert Cooley.
He is survived by his mother: Phyllis; two siblings: Amy (Howard) Mears, of Vicksburg; Tom (Tina) Taylor, of Vicksburg; three nephews: Randy (Brittany) Mears, of Mendon; Shawn (Meghan) Mears, of Kalamazoo; and Ryan Taylor, of Kalamazoo. He is also survived by his special cousin: Mary Helen Taylor, of TX and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 18th, 2024 at 11am from the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the funeral from 10am until the time of the service. Lucas King will be the Celebrant. Burial of Greg's ashes will follow the service at Vicksburg Cemetery.
