Gretchen Wedge

Gretchen Wedge, age 80, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2020 at the Allegan Medical Care Community. Gretchen was born Gretchen Helena Lange on August 14, 1939, fourth of eight children of Theodore and Josephine (McGeath) Lange of Allegan, Michigan. Like her siblings, she was raised with a strong faith and an exuberance for the love of her family. On April 7, 1979, Gretchen married Ronald L. Wedge of Allegan. Following Gretchen’s retirement from the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department, Ron and Gretchen enjoyed many long trips with their RV, and they especially enjoyed shorter trips and gatherings with other RV camper friends from the Allegan area. Her family will also remember her for her knack at orchestrating memorable backyard picnics and barbeques. Preceding her in death were Gretchen’s parents and six of her siblings: Grace Ann (Gerald) Richardson, Sue (Joe) Huguelet, Barbara Jo Washburn, Mary Joan Lange, Ted (Wanda) Lange, and younger sister Kathleen Ruth who passed away March 22, 2020. A sister-in-law, Sue Lange, also preceded her. Surviving her are her husband Ronald L. Wedge of Allegan, daughter Cynthia Lee Morey, grandson Zachary J. Morey and her younger brother Thomas Lange of Allegan. Brothers-in-law surviving her are Ken Washburn of Hopkins and Rod Wedge of Lakewood, WA. Her stepsons David (Cheryl) Wedge and Donald Wedge, both of Allegan, survive her as well as do great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Gretchen’s remains have been cremated. A memorial service has not been planned at this time.
