A wonderful husband, father and friend, Harry Betke, age 63, of Plainwell passed away on March 20, 2019 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Harry was born on May 19, 1955 to Bernard & Beverly (Burmeirster) Betke. A memorial gathering and pig roast will be held on Saturday, May 25 from 4:00 to 7:00 at the Gun Plain Township Hall; 381 8th St. Plainwell, MI 49080. Harry's family includes his wife of 46 years, Laury; his children: Tracey (Ross) Robrahn, Stacey Betke, Brandy Moran and Andrew Betke; his siblings: Bernie (Peg) Betke and Yvonne DeSmit; his grandchildren: Suzey, Deven, Ryley, Courtney, Isaac, Allissa, Ashton, Mason and Carter; five great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Rusty. Harry graduated from Plainwell High School in 1973. While in school he was a wrestler. Harry worked as a carpenter, a mason and a boilermaker. He was a jack of all trades who could fix anything. He loved to travel and enjoyed fishing. He loved the outdoors. Harry was a motocross racer and later in life enjoyed visiting casinos to play blackjack. He was a good neighbor who plowed the neighborhood and would mow lawns to help out. Harry was a cancer survivor for over 6 years and spend that time traveling with his wife. He was a hard worker who was always willing to help others and will be deeply missed.
