Martin, Harry of Schoolcraft, MI January 26, 2011 Harry left this world after a courageous six year battle with cancer and heart issues. Harry Martin, son of Laura Ann (Rhoades) and Harry Martin was born on July 5, 1944 at his home in Wakelee, MI. Harry was a heavy equipment operator and pipe foreman at Balkema Excavating for many years in the Kalamazoo area. In the 1970's he supervised a strip coal mining operation for Balkema Excavating in Williamsburg, Kentucky. Upon returning to Michigan, he became partner in Grames and Martin Division Tire in Dowagiac, Michigan. Most recently Harry was in partnership with his son in H & K Excavating of Schoolcraft, MI. Harry leaves behind children Robin Plomb of Harrietta, Elaine(Mike) Wielinga of Kalamazoo, Kip(Bobbie) Martin of Schoolcraft and Nicole Green of Marcellus, thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Harry is also survived by his two sisters, Pat(Marty) Martin of Kalamazoo and Betty(Larry) Roberts of Detroit. In accordance with Harry's wishes, his body has been donated to the University of Michigan Medical School. There will be a celebration of his life at a later date. His family wishes to thank his many friends for their continuous love and support through this difficult time. Memorial contributions should be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
