Hazel B. Erickson

ERICKSON, Hazel B. Portage Passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2012. Hazel was born Aug. 15, 1911 in Marlette, Mi the daughter of Frank and Jean (Knight) Boyne. She graduated from Marlette High School in 1927, then from Eastern Michigan University in 1932 and taught until 1943 when she enlisted in the U.S. Army. Becoming certified as a physical therapist and commissioned a Second Lieutenant she served in the Philippines. She returned and continued her physical therapy after the war, but was reactivated to serve in the Army during the Korean Conflict. She married Arthur G. Erickson in 1958, he passed away in 19687. She continued in physical therapy with the Ferndale and Fitzgerald Public Schools, retiring in 1973. Surviving is Richard and Bette Kienbaum of Portage, 8 nieces and nephews and numerous grand nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
