Helen Sara Bendel passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 in Centreville, MI at the age of 104. Helen was born at home to Joe and Blanche Williams on Nov. 9, 1916. She was one of eight siblings, four brothers and three sisters — by age: Dick, Elenore, Dorothy, Helen, Luke, Roy, Ruth and Harold. She attended the Blue School House in Mottville and White Pigeon High School.
Helen married John Bendel on Aug. 25, 1934 in Michigan City, IN. They resided in Mottville where John built their home. In 1939 they welcomed their only child, Sonya Burnham (Williams). John passed on Feb. 1, 1991 after 57 years of marriage. Helen will be greatly missed by her daughter Sonya Burnham and Sonya’s husband Dennis. She leaves behind her niece’s Margaret Raul (Victor) and Phyllis Waters. Helen will live on through her Grandchildren: Gina Hagen, Jeffrey Brundige, Jim Brundige - Great Grandchildren: Ryan Baechler, Autumn Hagen, Jonathan Hagen, Sean Sears, Nicolas Brundige, Jack Brundige, Loretta Brundige, and Colby Brundige - Great-Great Grandchildren: Maddox, Hudson, Kenton, Kinley, Addalyn, Dawson, Reid, Huck and Emberly. Helen’s life was devoted to our family and the impact on our lives’ will be eternal. A memorial service is planned for Spring 2021.
