Henry John Avink

AVINK, III, HENRY JOHN "HANK" Henry John Avink, III passed away at age 82 on August 19, 2014. He was surrounded by his loving family. Hank was born on July 12, 1932 in Grand Rapids, MI. He graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High School and attended Grand Rapids Junior College. He worked at Mary Free Bed brace shop for 50 plus years. Hank retired from the Grand Rapids Fire Department after 28 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gertrude Avink and grandson, James Paul Avink, Jr. Hank leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Nadeine M. Avink (Gauthier). He is also survived by his five children: Henry John Avink, IV (Elizabeth), Victoria L. Avink (Patrick), James P. Avink (Sandra), Scott A. Avink (Jill), and Terry L. Avink. Hank also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. The family will share time and stories at a memorial service being held Friday, August 22, at 1 PM at Jim and Sandy Avink's home. Service will be led by Pastor Timothy Diefenbach. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Avink Funeral Home and Cremation Society.
