Henry Christopher Evans Sr. was a man who was very loving and caring all his life. His greatest joy was working as a welder for a steel mill and went on to become an amazing cook at LaGrange Hospital and Best Foods. As well as being a grandfather that inspired all. Henry left this world peacefully at his home Saturday, September 11, 2021.
He was born October 16, 1933, in Chicago, IL., the son of Robert and Linnee Evans. His family was Chicago natives. He stayed in Chicago and graduated from Chicago Vocational High School in 1955, where he earned his Welding Certification. During this period, He attended a party with some friends and met a young woman named Idella Stephens. They began spending time together and on February 8, 1958, they were united in marriage.
Henry leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children and their spouses, Vickie Evans and her companion Artie Mctye of Columbia, MO, Henry and Olivia Evans, Jr. of Kalamazoo, Christopher Evans and Sir Sean Evans of Portage, Anthony and Vivian Evans of Tempe, AZ. Grandchildren, Maria, Margurie, Anthony, Jr., Monique, Kendall, Kandice, McKayla, and a host of great-grandchildren. He is preceded in his passing by his brothers and sister, Margaret Green, Leroy Evans, Robert Evans Jr, and Jerry Evans of Chicago.
In accordance with Henry’s wishes, a public Celebration of Life Service will be held at Avink Funeral Home and Cremation Society, 5975 Lovers Lane, Portage, MI 49002, on Friday, September 17, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. Henry will be laid to rest at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
