Jack passed away peacefully Thursday morning, July 11, 2013 at home, surrounded by the family who adored him. Jack married Kathryn Sanford on Nov. 10, 1951 and on November 10, 2011, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They lived their entire married lives on Indian Lake where together they raised 4 daughters, Connie (Dave) Wagner, Chris (Bob) Schuiteboer, Cheryl (Mike) Guinn and Cindy (Mike) Veldkamp. The family is especially appreciative of the love and support received from special friends Dick Williams, Marge Stephenson, Mike and Diane Secondi, and Randy Sweet. We also want to express our gratitude to our Hospice nurse Kyle, and CNA Julie, Dad loved both of you.
Jack will also be greatly missed by his grand-dogs, especially by Toby, his constant companion. They were spoiled rotten by him over the years.
Jack retired from the Consumers Power Co. in 1985 after 32 years of service. He also owned and operated the Indian Lake Garden Supply with his father, Ken Jones. Jack was a lifetime member of the Schoolcraft F&AM Lodge #118 and the Kalamazoo Shrine Club. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the Scotts United Methodist Church from 6 p.m to 7 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m., including a Masonic Service by the Schoolcraft Masonic Lodge #118. Interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Scotts United Methodist Church or Hospice of Southwest Michigan.
