Delton, MI - Jack E. McCormick, age 73, passed away April 11, 2016. He was born June 12, 1942 in Buchanan, MI. He was the son of Sam and Irene McCormick. He graduated from Delton Kellogg School in 1960 and went on to graduate from Michigan State University in Landscape and Nursery Management in 1964. He owned his own landscaping business for 30 years and was a millwright in the off-season. He enjoyed hunting, was very creative and loved accomplishing many projects. He built two houses and roads and spent many hours working on his property. He was talented in designing and welding equipment he used in his business.
Jack also did stone sculpturing from raw stone, loved to travel and spent many winters in Arizona where he enjoyed hiking and jeeping in the desert and mountains. He spent two months in Alaska where he hiked Denali National Park and climbed the Chilkoot Trail that the gold miners traveled. He also hiked in Glacier National Park and eight miles into the Grand Canyon. He spent the last few years living in the Naples, Florida area.
Jack married and is survived by Joanne (Enyart) McCormick Lane. He is also survived by four children, Jeff (Kim) McCormick, Joyce (Mike) Olmstead, Jason McCormick and Jennifer (Carnell) Johnson; seven grandchildren, Jamie (John) Vaughan, Jordan (Cameron) Gemoets, Jack (Danae) McCormick, Mieka & Milo McCormick and Kyle, Josie & Maya Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Zoie & Sadie Gemoets. He is also survived by a brother Tom (Cinda) McCormick and a sister Susan McCormick, three nephews, Chadd McCormick & Shaun McCormick and nephew Scott & niece Jill McCormick.
