Passed away on October 31, 2013 He was born on November 17,1937 to John and Frieda DeHaan in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Jim graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1955. He attended Western Michigan University and later received a degree from the University of Virginia School of Banking. He also became a Certified Economic Development Finance Professional. The majority of his career was in banking and later economic development. Jim served on the Board of Directors of the Moline State Bank and the Commercial Bank of Menominee. He also served on the boards of numerous organizations and assisted in fund raising for many non-profit organizations. He was also an instructor at KVCC and Kalamazoo College Stryker Center. Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years, Karen R. Putnam DeHaan, daughter Judith Lyn Morin and her husband Thomas Phillip Morin, his grandson, Charles (Chad) Putnam Morin. He is also survived by his adopted son, Daniel J. DeHaan. Also surviving are brothers, John, Robert and Terry. His younger brother, Bruce passed away in June 2013. Per Jim's wishes there will be no services or visitation. A Private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials are encouraged to the Boys and Girls Club of Kalamazoo or a charity of your choice.
