James Scott Morgan

James Scott Morgan, of Portage, Michigan, an amazing husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, passed away November 6, 2021. Scott was born January 23, 1961, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. He moved to Michigan as a toddler with his parents. He graduated from Northville High School, served in the United States Air Force and later graduated from Spring Arbor University. He was employed by Stryker Medical Corporation as an Associate Sourcing Manager until he became ill. He loved his job and the many friends he made there during his employment. Scott had a big heart and was always happy and ready to help friends and relatives with their projects or repairs. He had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke. He was an avid sports fan, loved his gardening, music, reading, biking, and golf. He was especially passionate about rescuing strays and finding them safe shelter. He personally has adopted several dogs over the years and currently leaves behind his Bambi, Baxon, and Snickers. Scott is survived by the love of his life, Karla Heath Morgan; three wonderful daughters, Jacqueline Ann White (James) of Grand Rapids, Rebecca Helen Morgan of Kalamazoo, and Renae Claire Morgan (Adam Polk) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; three precious grandchildren, Kaleb James Morgan, Augustus Joseph, and Aurelia June Polk; his parents, Edward Gilbert Morgan of Livonia and Barbara Gill Stevenson of South Lyon; one brother, Stephen Harold Morgan (Miwako) of South Lyon; one sister, Karen Rebecca Moran (Gregory) of Orion; four nephews, Dr. Harrison Morgan, Tyler Morgan, Benjamin Morgan, and Hunter Laurin; three nieces, Reagan Moran, Lindsay Moran, and Hannah Laurin; mother and father-in-law, Donald and Marjorie Heath of Kalamazoo; and sister and brother-in-law, Kayla and David Laurin of Kalamazoo. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Olus Marvin and Rebecca Kissee Gill, and James Markie Morgan and Jane Rafferty Bracken. Cremation has taken place and there will be no service per Scott’s wishes, but a celebration of life will be held for family and friends at a later date in January. Memorials may be sent to the Kalamazoo Animal Rescue or to a charity of choice. While visiting James' tribute page please take a moment to light a candle or share a memory with the family.
