Janice Butler Jarrett was born in Kalamazoo on Jan. 18, 1951 to Glenn L. and Mary V. Butler. She was graduated from Comstock High School, having also attended Kalamazoo Central and University High School, where she met her best friend, Jay Jarrett when she was 16. Five years later, Jan and Jay were married in Kalamazoo and lived in Michigan and Florida, before returning to Kalamazoo. Jan worked for the Automobile Club of Michigan for twenty years, retiring to her home in Climax to "play in the dirt". She volunteered for Loaves and Fishes at the Comstock Community Center for several years. She was a member of the ACLU and liked to quote Mark Twain by saying she was not a member of an organized political party, she was a Democrat. She is survived by her best friend Jay, sister; Nancy, brothers, Jack and John and their families. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Comstock Community Center, Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan
