Jeffrey Lynn Ramsey, age 64, of Plainwell, Michigan, passed away with his wife by his side on Friday, January 22, 2021, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Jeffrey was born on July 6, 1956, in Cleveland, Ohio. The son of Columbus “Sam” Jackson Ramsey and Dorothy Marie (Faulhaber) Ramsey.
Jeff was a dedicated family man who loved spending time with his family and friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, putzing around his garage, and spending time with his Grandchildren. Jeff enjoyed a good practical joke and was always the first one to arrive and the last one to leave.
Jeff graduated from Plainwell High School in 1974, where he met his future bride, Rhonda Gaye (Burd) Ramsey. Jeff and Rhonda dated for four years before marrying on May 7, 1977. They were happily married for 43 years. The marriage was blessed by four children, Jeffrey (Lacey) Ramsey of Plainwell, MI, Derek (Melissa) Ramsey of Plainwell, MI, Erin (Ramsey) and Alan Vochaska of South Haven, MI, and Sarah (Ramsey) and Cory Barnes of Plainwell, MI. Jeff and Rhonda are blessed with eleven grandchildren and one on the way.
Jeff is survived by his Mother, Dorothy Ramsey of Plainwell, MI, and three siblings, Carl (Kenley) Ramsey of Otsego, MI, John Ramsey of Plainwell, MI, and Joyce Swinehart of Mattawan, MI, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins. Jeff was proceeded in death by his father, “Sam” Ramsey, his father-in-law, Robert Burd, and his mother-in-law, Rebecca “Marie” Burd.
Jeff was an active member of the Plainwell First United Methodist Church where he worshipped and volunteered many hours. When his boys were young, he spent time volunteering with the Boy Scouts.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 from 4pm-7pm at McCowen and Secord Funeral Home, Marshall Gren Chapel, 120 S. Woodhams St., Plainwell, MI 49080. Private funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.
Pallbearers include Derek Ramsey, Jeffrey A. Ramsey, Carl Ramsey, John Ramsey, Cory Barnes, and Alan Vochaska.
