Jeffrey (Jeff) Dale Ladd of Schoolcraft, MI, age 57, passed away August 29, 2024, at Rose Arbor Place in Kalamazoo, MI. Jeff was born in Deckerville, MI to Dale and Dixie Ladd.
Jeff’s early years were spent helping his father on their farm with various livestock and participating in 4H. In high school, Jeff was President of Future Farmers of America and worked hard both at a local dairy farm and McDonalds. He played quarterback and defensive end for Deckerville High School and remembered fondly those Friday night lights.
After high school, Jeff attended both Michigan Tech and Michigan State University, graduating in 1991 with a B.S. in computer science. Jeff’s career took him all over working on many different IT projects. He loved to learn new things and always had a new hobby. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, snowmobiling, archery competitions, woodworking and taxidermy. He obtained his pilot’s license and loved to fly. In more recent years he restored a 1956 Ford F-100. Jeff exceled at anything he decided to do, always striving for perfection.
Jeff was known for his sharp wit and playfulness. He was active in his Schoolcraft, MI community, volunteering at the American Legion as bar manager for two years. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Ellen Ladd, and their son, Kyle Ladd. He is also survived by immediate family, Tim and Sara Ladd and Steve Ladd, as well as many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at Jeff and Ellen’s home, a date to be determined.
