Jimmie Lee Taft of Plainwell, MI passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the age of 86. He was born on April 29, 1935, in Kalamazoo, MI the son of Clarence and Hilda (Veldt) Taft.
He graduated from Delton High School in 1953, following graduation he proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army until being honorably discharged in 1958. He returned home to the Plainwell area and took a position working for Valley Metal until 1966 when he transitioned to Parker Hannifin, he worked there for thirty-four years before retiring. In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, woodworking, traveling, gambling, and fishing. He served as a board member for the Gun River Conservation Club for at least twenty years.
He is preceded in his passing by his parents; his first wife: Virginia “Tina” Taft; and grandson: Jeffrey Taft.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of thirteen years: Joan (Hoy) Taft; children: Randy (Linda) Taft, Robert (Chris) Taft, Scott (Dana) Taft and Krystn White; grandchildren: James, Beth, Amber, Robert II, Jessica, William, Russell, Ryan, and Christina; seventeen and a half great grandchildren; siblings: Dixie and Larry (Skip); brother in-law: Mike Largent; and several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with the family’s wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on a later date.
He will be fondly remembered by all as someone who would help anybody at the drop of a hat.
Memorials made in Jimmie’s memory may be directed to the Gun River Conservation Club.
