Joan deMink

deMink, Joan E. Portage Passed away Sept. 8, 2012 at Rose Arbor. Joan was born Nov. 30, 1933 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Thomas and Josephine (Anstett) Fox. She married her High School sweetheart Larry L. deMink June 18, 1955 in Kalamazoo and he preceded her in death in Aug. 6, 2010. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and WMU with a degree in Education. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority, past president of Junior League of Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo Garden Club, Art League, Hospital Hospitality House, Elizabeth Winthrop Guild of First Congregational Church, Klassy Kazoos. She modeled for Gilmore Bros. Surviving are 2 children, Lon (Sheri) deMink and Pam (Doug) Zwart, 4 grandchildren, Raechel and Chris deMink and Sydney and Jordan Zwart, a sister, Jean Paulson of Holland and a brother, Tom (Rita) Fox, several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2pm Monday Sept. 17, 2012 at the First Congregational Church in Kalamazoo.
