Joan W. Stout, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, at Heritage Community of Kalamazoo. Joan was born on July 25, 1937, in Quincy IL. Joan and her family moved from Quincy to Kalamazoo when she was young and lived in the Kalamazoo/Otsego area for most of her adult life.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, James; and a son, Dan. Surviving are her three daughters: Debra, Linda and Julie; sister Sally, and brothers Richard and John. Joan has a loving extended family including grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Joan loved antiques and enjoyed visiting flea markets! She was an animal lover; she especially loved cats. Ironically, a stray cat appeared directly outside of her window at the time of her passing. (Staff reported no previous sightings of cats.) Perhaps the cat appeared to lead Joan on her journey. We know she would have been smiling.
Cremation has occurred and immediate family will gather at the cemetery to honor Joan’s memory. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to an animal rescue organization of your choice.
While at www.amsfuneralhomes.com please take time to sign Joan's guestbook and/or share a memory with her family.
The Stout family is being cared for by the Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Homes and Cremation Society, 129 South Grand Street, Schoolcraft, MI, 49087
