John Bach

John Sebastian Bach, of Kalamazoo passed away with family by his side on October 16, 2024, at the age of 50. He was born on February 8, 1974.

John graduated from Climax Scotts high school in 1992 where he played football. After high school, John attended classes at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. John had a job at the Harvester restaurant for a time. It was there he met Amanda who started working there after he had left. John asked her out and they were soon dating. They were married on June 9, 2006.

John enjoyed fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed movies. He was a big Star Wars fan. There were fond memories of trips to the beach but anything with his son Matthew was at the top of John’s list. He was happy just to stay home with his family.

His laughter drew people in and put them at ease. He was a kind, gentle soul. John will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

He is survived by his mother Lois (Dave), wife Amanda; son Matthew; siblings: Paul (Cindy) Bach, Darcy (Scott) Tuinstra as well as his nieces and nephews: Sarah, Josh, and Sam. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father Paul, his aunt Chris Smith as well as his grandparents: Joe and Martha Walsh and Russ and Chris Lash.

Following his wishes, John has been cremated. Visit with his family and friends on Thursday, October 24 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Home and Cremation Society, 5975 Lovers Lane, Portage, MI 49002. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the same location.
