John Joseph Bastin

John Joseph Bastin, age 84, of Galesburg, passed away the afternoon of March 15, 2011. He was born in Alexandria, Indiana on February 20, 1927, the son of John Joseph Bastine and Clora (Worley) Bastine. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Dorothy (Cizmadji) Bastin, his brother Albert Bastine, and sister Opal Wiley. John is survived by his children Sandra (Nick) Gerhardt (Canton, OH) and Toni Wilson (Middleville, MI), grandson Timothy Gerhardt (Canton, OH), his loving companion of 21 years Hazel Bullard (Galesburg, MI), brother Hubert Bastine (Evansville, IN), several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 936 Lake Street, Kalamazoo, on March 26, 2011 at 2:00PM. Following the mass and per John's wishes, friends and family will celebrate his life at Sam's Joint in Plainwell, MI, from 4:00 to 8:00PM.
