John Albert Hodgman’s spirit left the pain of this earthly world on Friday, February 19, 2021. John was born on January 31, 1944 in Kalamazoo MI. He was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg and was a man of few words who loved his family, friends, all things Harley Davidson, and racing related as well as the Detroit Lions and Tigers.
John graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1962. Following high school John enlisted in the United States Armed forces, where he honorably served his country until being discharged from active duty in 1965. Upon returning home from active duty, his mother introduced him to the love of his life: Jacque, and they were married shortly after on April 1, 1966. John was employed with National Waterlift/ Parker Hannifin from 1965 until he retired in 2004.
He is preceded in his passing by his parents: Ruth Agnes (Kaiser) and Albert Theo Hodgman; sisters: Lila Burgess and Joyce Phelps; and brothers: George Hodgman and Roy Hodgman.
Left to cherish John’s memory is his loving wife of 54 years: Jacqueline (Havinga) Hodgman; daughter: Cindy (Mike) Waldon; son: John (Martha) Hodgman; grandson: Mike Waldon; sister: Claudia Burgess; and many loving nieces and nephews.
As per John’s wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held on a later date.
