John William Jordan

John W. Jordan, age 61, of Portage, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 14, 2013. He was born November 16, 1951, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Wilbur and Doris (Huntley) Jordan. John graduated from Plainwell High School in 1970 and went on to be very active in his community, working many different jobs in local law enforcement, fire and ambulance departments, as well as 3 local TV stations and the Kalamazoo Gazette. He founded Safety Consultants and taught CPR/FA and Defensive Driving classes. He graciously volunteered his time with MCRGO, the Kalamazoo County Dive Team, Hunter Safety, and Girl Scouting. John is survived by his wife of 29 years, Holly (Hawke) and his sisters Carolyn and Merry Lu. He loved his boxer dog, Duncan. In accordance to John's wishes cremation has taken place and friends are invited to gather on September 7th from 2-4 pm at Threads Church, 3600 W. Milham, Portage to celebrate John's life.
