John Gilbert Trimner

TRIMNER, John G. Portage Passed away Dec. 7, 2011 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. John was born June 13, 1931 in Brookfield IL to Clarence R. and Edith (Shaw) Trimner. He graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1950. John served in the Navy aboard the Air Craft Carrier U.S.S. Coral Sea during the Korean War. On Jan. 5, 1951 John married the love of his life; Mary E. Cairns at the First Methodist Church in Kalamazoo. They had 4 sons and spent 59 years together. He spent 40 years working in the advertising business with Mulholland, Central and Adams Advertising Companies. John enjoyed sports, especially baseball and the Chicago Cubs and Detroit Tigers. He was a Cub Master for Troop 44 at Ramona Lane School while his sons were young and active in their Little League baseball teams. In recent years he has volunteered with the R.S.V.P. Program, the Portage Senior Center and the Air Zoo. John was an outgoing, friendly man who enjoyed his family and friend and was a good neighbor. Survived by his wife, Mary, sons; Wayne, Keith (Debby) Trimner of Parchment and Gregg (Rhythm) Trimner of Portage, 6 grandchildren; Mickey, Steven, John, Joseph, Patricia and Chantelle, 7 great grandchildren, a sister; Ruth (Trimner) Evans of Vicksburg and many nieces, nephews and cousins. John was preceded in death by a brother; William Trimner a sister; Carol (Trimner) Hope and a son Lloyd Joseph Trimner. John was cremated and burial at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. A luncheon for family and friends on Saturday Dec. 10, 2011 from 1 to 4pm at the Angling Road Elementary School 5340 Angling Rd., Portage. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Portage Senior Center and Diabetes Association.
