John Arthur VanEck

Passed away Sunday December 6, 2009. He was Born April 4, 1961 in Portage, the son of Robert and DeLouise (Finnigan) Van Eck. On January 9, 1988 he was united in marriage to Reatha Marie Gillum in Kalamazoo. John was a staff pharmacist at Meijers for 19 years and Walgreens for 4 years. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and experimenting with cooking. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Van Eck. John is survived by his wife Reatha (Gillum) Van Eck and their two children, Abigail Van Eck and Maxwell Van Eck all of Mattawan, his mother DeLouise (Finnigan) Van Eck of Portage, his sisters Carol (Jim) Halfmann of St. Johns and Teresa (Phyl) Bennett of Marshall, his brother Richard "Rick" (Bobbi) Van Eck of Albion, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service for family and friends will be held Tuesday December 15, at 1:00pm at Mattawan Community Church (formerly First Congregational Church of Mattawan).
