John Paul Went

John Paul Went Jr. of Birch Lake, Vandalia, MI passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021, at the age of 83. He was born on February 14, 1938, in Elkhart, IN to John Paul Sr. and Valeria (Harris) Went. On December 27, 1959, he married Roma Charlene Strombeck. John had many careers during his life which included his love of music and movies. His passion was exhibited by owning and operating the Riviera Theatre in Three Rivers, MI for many years. His greatest joys were spending time with his family and decorating for Christmas. John is survived by his children: Rene' (James) Rader of Marcellus, MI. and John Went III of Cassopolis, MI; grandsons: Ryan (Anissa) Rader of Watervliet, MI, Jared Rader of Grand Rapids, MI and Jordan Rader of Kalamazoo, MI; great-granddaughter: Everlee Rader of Watervliet, MI; sisters: Melody (Jerry) Ford of Sturgis, MI and Cherie (John) Jacobs of Sturgis, MI: sister-in-law: Sandra Went of Tampa, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brother, Terry Went Sr. While visiting John’s tribute page, please take a moment to light a candle or share a memory with his family.
