Joyce Pountain

Joyce Elaine Pountain (Keast), 88, of Portage, MI passed away on March 17th, 2024.  Joyce was born May 27th, 1935, in Pontiac MI to William and Anna Keast. She graduated from Portage Central High School in 1953. After graduation she worked at the state hospital before becoming a mother of 7 children. She married the love of her life, Wayne Eugene Pountain, on May 4th, 1957, in Kalamazoo, MI and enjoyed nearly 50 wonderful years together. After retiring from WMU, Joyce enjoyed being with family and friends and spent much of her retirement in the company of social clubs including TOPS, Domino's, Encore, and Canasta, amongst others.

She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her loving children Deanna (Mike) Shumaker of Hudson FL, Sandy (Hugh) Davis of Fort Lauderdale FL, Gary (Miriam) Pountain of Portage MI, Mike Pountain of Portage MI, Brenda (David) Hill of Richland MI, and Carla (Brian) Davis of Albuquerque NM.  She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, brother Jerry Keast of Washington, MI, and sister Jerolyn Slayton of Cheyenne, WY. Joyce was preceded in death by husband Wayne Pountain, and son Jon Pountain. 

Friends are welcome to join the family for visitation St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church (1150 W. Centre Ave, Portage, MI 49024) Friday April 12, 2024 from 10am-11am with service at 11am.

May Joyce rest in peace, and her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.  In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Joyce's name to Kairos Dwelling, 2945 Gull Rd, Kalamazoo, MI  49048
