Katharina Harrison, 88, of Vicksburg passed away at her home on Sunday, January 17, 2021. Katharina was born on August 28, 1932 in Oldenburg, Hungary to Karl and Theresia (Bauer) Reisch. When Katharina was 11 years old, she and her family were forced to move from their homeland of Hungary to Germany. It was there, at 22 years old, that she met the love of her life, Lyle Harrison. Lyle was in the United States military and stationed in Germany, when they met. They married on September 6, 1954 in Germany. She moved to the United States to be with Lyle in 1955. She proudly became a United States citizen in 1961. While living in Vicksburg, she was a housekeeper for various local families. Later in life, she joyfully volunteered at Vicksburg High School activities with her husband. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to the casino, playing her slot machines. Being a big kid at heart, Katie was always up for a good game of cards. She loved to watch cartoons and movies. She was a dedicated hard worker with a passionate heart for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She spread her love to all she knew including her extended family, friends, pets, and neighbors. She even went so far as to take care of her Doctors by making them pies and assorted treats when she would go in for appointments. Katie will be remembered by her family as loving, caring, strong-willed, and someone that most loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Her family includes her husband of 66 years, Lyle; two sons: Michael (Guila) Harrison, of Hudsonville; Richard (Maryjo) Harrison, of Three Rivers; six grandchildren Troy (Dana) Harrison, Jason Harrison, Senika (Curtis) Walcott, Joshua (Julie) Harrison, Branden (Megan) Harrison, Brock (Mariah) Harrison and six great grandchildren Ivy Harrison, Brynn, Briar and baby Walcott, Tyler Harrison, Kloey Harrison. She is preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Theresia Reisch, 3 sisters and one niece.
