Kathleen F. Cook, of Union, KY; formerly of Schoolcraft passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the age of 78. She was born on October 13, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, She was the beloved daughter of Roy and Helen (Lahti) O'Donnell.
Kathleen’s educational journey began at Utica High School, where she graduated with the Class of 1964. She then attended Central Michigan University before she transferred to Michigan State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree.
One of Kathleen's proudest accomplishments was her loving relationship with her husband, Richard "Rich" Cook. The couple celebrated their marriage on October 26, 1968, and their bond served as the foundation for a life filled with shared joys and memories. Together they raised two children; Lisa and Matt.
Before making her home in Schoolcraft, Michigan in 1982, Kathleen dedicated herself to teaching. After relocating, she took on the role of Schoolcraft Township Clerk for several years, a position through which she served her community with great commitment and integrity.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Kathleen loved to travel and enjoyed researching her family genealogy. These hobbies not only enriched her life but also allowed her to connect with her roots and explore the world around her.
Kathleen is remembered not just for her accomplishments but for the warmth and kindness she extended to those fortunate enough to know her. Described by many as caring and loving, she made a lasting impact on the lives of her friends and family. She loved her family dearly and was a great wife, mother, and grandmother. She recently celebrated the birth of the next generation of her family, her great granddaughter.
Kathleen F. Cook leaves behind a legacy of compassion, community service, and a deep appreciation for family, travel, and the connections that bind us all. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Kathleen is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard; two children: Lisa (Paul) Metzger, of KY; and Matt Cook, of Vicksburg; four grandchildren: Kelcey Cook, of Vicksburg; Macey Cook, of Vicksburg; Stephen (Elizabeth) Metzger, of KY and Charlie Metzger, of KY; and her great granddaughter: Mary Kathleen Metzger.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 11am; With Deacon Thomas Thamann officiating. The family will receive friends from 10am until the time of the service. Burial at Schoolcraft Cemetery.
