MAHIEU, Kenneth Allen Sr. Schoolcraft Passed away Jan. 6, 2011 at Heartland Heath Care Center. Ken was born Sept. 13, 1929 in Niles the son of Ronald and Ruth (Clark) Mahieu. Ken grew up in Gobles and married Violet Miller on May 20, 1949 in Alamo. He worked at Clarage Fan Co. for 19 years, Farm Bureau/IMCC and retired from Kauffman Lumber in Schoolcraft. He played organized Baseball in the Kalamazoo City League, bowled in the Schoolcraft Sunset League and enjoyed participating with the Schoolcraft Little League and Boy Scouts. He also volunteered with the Alamo Twp. and Schoolcraft Village Fire Departments. Ken and Violet moved to Schoolcraft in 1955. Ken also enjoyed spending time at the family lake property in Delton and helping his mother-in-law Mildred Miller with the upkeep of her property. Survived by his wife Violet of 61 years, children; Kenneth Allen (Barbara) Mahieu Jr., Marty (Jenny) Mahieu, Ruth (Bill) Toornman, Virginia (Chip) Mongreig, Barbara (Edward) Ott, Teresa (Donnie) Randol, 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, God daughter Angie (Ron) Landis and V.J. Kline, brothers; Harold, Chuck, John, sisters; Delores, Sue, Betty, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Don and Ronald Jr. At his request cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the Schoolcraft United Methodist Church on Monday Jan. 10, 2011 from 11 to 1 and 3 to 6 where a memorial service will be held at 6pm with Rev. Karen Wheat officiating. Private graveside service at Schoolcraft Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Schoolcraft Little League or Schoolcraft Boy Scouts.
