Ladon Huntington

Ladon Kahreem Shanks Huntington, born on October 14, 1999, passed away tragically on January 5, 2025, in Kalamazoo County, Michigan, as the result of a vehicle accident. His life, though far too brief, was filled with passion, service, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference.

Ladon spent his childhood in Alabama and Muskegon, Michigan. Despite facing challenges and instability during his early years, he persevered and graduated from Muskegon High School in 2019. While in high school, Ladon’s love for music flourished as he participated in the Marching Band, Jazz Band, Concert Band, Winter DrumLine, and Choir. He was also an active athlete, competing in soccer, cross country, wrestling, and track.

Ladon’s dedication to service and advocacy was evident throughout his life. He was deeply involved in numerous organizations and initiatives, including the Muskegon Running Club, Rotary Interact, BOOM Youth, Planned Parenthood Peer Educators, MYOI (Michigan Youth Opportunities Initiative), YEP (Youth Empowerment Project), and the Teen Health Center Youth Advisory Board. His efforts earned him the Muskegon High School Service Award and also the Class Activist Award from his senior class. Ladon lived to serve others and did so with a smile that could light up any room.

At the time of his passing, Ladon was working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) caring for hospice patients while pursuing a degree in nursing—a testament to his compassionate spirit and desire to help others.

Ladon is survived by his parents Kwame James and Rebecca St. Clair;  siblings Jorden Robinson, Jaden Duquette, Ayanna Harris, Javontae Jones, Jontae Woods, Frank Harris Jr., Jaylan Jones, Deanthony Lyons and Skye Harris; his grandmothers Brenda Barnes and  Pressie Fox; aunt Dwonna Thomas; and a host of other family extended across Muskegon and beyond. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank Harris Sr. and Keyondra Shanks as well as siblings J’Mari Harris and Janaya Harris.
