Passed away suddenly Aug. 6, 2010 at Borgess Medical Center. Larry was born July 25, 1933 in Kalamazoo the son of Abraham and Gertrude (Fessenden) deMink. He was an Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict. He married his high school sweetheart, Joan Fox, June 18, 1955 in Kalamazoo. An ethical man, Larry was a CPA for over 35 years. He helped to start Shagbark Golf Course and Kalamazoo Kangaroo Professional Soccer Team, past president of Kalamazoo Jaycees, former member of Downtown Kalamazoo Rotary Club, past president of Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kalamazoo where he was a board member for over 40 years. He was an avid golfer and fisherman, lifelong supporter of WMU athletics where he was a graduate and a member of Eagle Lake Bloomingdale Lake Association where he enjoyed weekly meetings of C and C. Also enjoyed weekly coffee clutch meetings with his friends. He was very proud of his 4 grandchildren and enjoyed attending their activities. Surviving is his wife of 55 years Joan, 2 children; Lon (Sheri) deMink of Kalamazoo; Pam (Doug) Zwart of Kalamazoo; 4 grandchildren; Raechel and Chris deMink and Sydney and Jordan Zwart. A brother, Brom (Linda) deMink of Holland; a sister, Sarah Milne of Kalamazoo, a sister in law, Peg deMink of Richland and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Larry donated his skin and eyes to Gift of Life, and cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 1:30pm at First Congregational Church in Kalamazoo with Pastor Jean Miller officating. The family suggests in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kalamazoo and Hospital Hospitality House in Kalamazoo.
