Larry Preston Harris

Harris, Larry Preston Schoolcraft Larry Preston Harris, age 79, passed away "on it" while resting peacefully, surrounded by his family, May 5th, 2016. He is survived by five children, eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one brother, one sister, and wife of 59 years, Linda. Larry was born the son of a milkman in Kalamazoo, MI December 1st, 1936. Larry and Linda married on September 29th, 1956. Shortly thereafter, Larry joined the US Army; family brought him back to Kalamazoo upon the expiration of his enlistment. In 1970 Larry opened Nassau Installation out of his Kalamazoo home. In 1973 Larry and Linda built a home and moved their family to Schoolcraft, MI. Larry opened Nassau Carpet in Schoolcraft in 1989. He put his heart and soul into the business until he retired last year at 78 years old. Undoubtedly, the roads will be a tiny bit safer without him behind the wheel of his, recognizable Nassau Carpet vans, however, his questionable driving was more than offset by his community service, volunteerism, and his love for purple and gold. Larry faithfully donated his time and energy to Schoolcraft High School Football for more than thirty years. He was a fixture at every game, home or away. Please join us in wearing PURPLE and GOLD to honor Larry if you will be attending his funeral. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please send donations in Larry's memory to Schoolcraft High School Athletic Boosters or Rose Arbor Hospice. Services will be held Saturday May 7th at Schoolcraft United Methodist Church. Visitation is at 11:00 AM, the funeral will be at 12:00. Lunch will be served at Schoolcraft United Methodist Church following the service.
