Larry Don MacPhee

Larry MacPhee, age 73, passed away from cancer on Friday, October 24, 2015 at home surrounded by family. He was born June 22, 1942 in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of Donald and Averil (Harrison) MacPhee. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and a son Timothy. Surviving are his wife of 50 years Doris (McKnight) and two daughters, Carol (Tom) Hillsburg and Laura (Clint) Rohlfs. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Sarah and Kaylee Hillsburg and Jonathan and Andrew Tysen, and two step-grandchildren Taylor and Baileigh Rohlfs. Larry was a teacher and a coach at Mattawan for 30 years before retiring. He was also a volunteer fire fighter and trustee at Texas Township. Most recently, he was proud to be a District Two Little League umpire. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and spending time at Sandy Pines. Cremation has taken place and a visitation with family and friends will be held on Monday, Oct. 26 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Holiday Inn West, 2747 South 11th St., Kalamazoo in the Michigan and Superior Rooms. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or a charity of your choice.
