Larry D Misel
Larry Douglas Misel, age 75, of Marcellus, MI passed away March 23, 2018.
He was born October 25, 1942 in Three Rivers, MI the son of Charles Lee Misel, and Eva Joy (Conder) Misel. On September 17, 1966 he married Patricia (Pat) Parr at Three Rivers Baptist Church.
Larry Douglas Misel was a beautiful soul. From him we all have learned that it is not what you have in your life, but who resides within it. Every moment of his life revolved around the love and compassion for his friends and family. He was a man who always put the needs of others before his own. He was strong in body, in spirit, and in commitment. He never let another man down and fulfilled every obligation he ever took.
Larry loved hunting. So much so, that he would hunt for bears with his grandchildren in Marcellus, with a trusty BB gun. He loved fishing with his family and would tell tales of catching his limit. However, family members who fished with him could rarely verify these stories.
Larry loved his grandchildren. He and Pat would host grandkids only camping events, where a slew of memories were made. He taught them all to drive the lawnmower, which was a necessary skill to support his love of a large lawn. Larry’s grandsons had a very special bond held together with the phrase “Don’t tell grandma about this.”
Larry loved westerns, but oddly enough he was the only one that picked up an accent from watching them. He had a tremendous sense of humor, unless there was a prank that involved snakes, he hated snakes.
Larry never asked for anything and was always grateful. He lived a life of devotion to his family and the Lord. As a husband, Larry supported his wife under any circumstance and never waivered. He loved Pat with every bone in his body and was proud to show his affection. As a father, Larry involved himself in every detail of his children’s lives. He supported, respected, and loved his family unconditionally.
Larry had a quiet dignity, respecting himself the way he respected others. It was the simple things around him in life that he never took for granted. He was the anchor to his family. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure; he was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Parr) Misel of Marcellus; Three daughters, Angie (Randy) Baker of Marcellus, Shelly (Darle) Gelder of Zeeland, and Heather (Jerry) Kirby of Three Rivers; one son Doug (Laura) Misel of Three Rivers, 15 Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Lee, and Billy Misel.
A celebration of his life will be held at Edwards Corners Bible church, Marcellus MI on Saturday March 31, 2018 with visitation from 10am to 11am, and funeral service beginning at 11:00. Burial will follow at Flowerfield township cemetery.
