Lee Roy Davis, age 73, entered his eternal home in heaven on February 8, 2025, after a long battle with cancer and Parkinson’s disease. Lee was born August 4, 1951, in Grand Rapids, MI, son of Roy and Corinne (Thorson) Davis. Lee accepted Christ as his Savior when he was 12 years old.
Lee graduated from Sparta High School in 1969 and then attended Moody Bible School for a year. He graduated first in his class from United Electronics Institute and worked at Allen Test Products as an electronics technician. Lee completed the electrician apprenticeship program in 1982 and worked for Local 131 at various locations including the South Haven nuclear power plant. Lee was hired by Upjohn Company in 1984 and retired from Pfizer in 2008 as a master electrician. For two years, Lee had his own business, Lee-Lectric.
In 1975, Lee married Kay Ellen Maguire and they raised two sons, Ross and Bryan. Lee was a great family man. Lee is survived by his wife and sons as well as his sister Cindy (Pete) Zull; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Curtis (Mary) Maguire and Gregg (Terri) Maguire. He is also survived by his stepsister-in-law: Sue Alt; granddaughter Emma Grace Verity and many cousins and nieces and nephews.
Lee faithfully served the Lord during his 50 years at Calvary Bible Church in various ways including being a deacon and by helping in youth ministries. He so enjoyed using his electrician skills when working at Christian camps and on mission trips.
Lee’s favorite pastimes were the many ping pong games he played with fellow employees at Upjohn Co. and of course, catching countless salmon in Lake Michigan. Lee will be remembered for the godly man he was: kind, gentle, and with a great sense of humor.
A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, February 25, at Calvary Bible Church, 855 S. Drake, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Visitation at 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Bible Mission Fund or Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
While visiting Lee’s webpage at www.amsfuneralhomes.com please sign the guestbook and/or share a memory with the family.
The family is being assisted by Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Home; 120 S. Woodhams St. Plainwell, MI 49080 (269-685-5881).
