Passed away April 3, 2013. Leola was born in Ithaca Michigan in 1919 to Ernest and Mabel Williams. Her father Ernest owned a bakery in Ithaca and she spent a lot of time there. She is a graduate of Ithaca High School. Married Leland Sowle in Ithaca in 1937 - a farmer - and they had two daughters: Gail Somerville and Karen Cook. She played the piano and was a wonderful seamstress. She made many outfits for Gail and Karen and also made their wedding dresses when they married. Grandchildren from her daughter Karen are Steven Cook, Julie Cook Arends, Amy Cook Otto, Grandchildren from her daughter Gail are Lee Ann Simpson, Donald Somerville (deceased), Terry Somerville, Chris Somerville and Anne-Marie Somerville. Great grandchildren are Nathan and Emily Cook from her daughter Karen, Great grandchildren are Chad, Meridith, Stephanie and Joseph from her daughter Gail, Two great-great grandsons Issac and Corres from her daughter Gail, a sister Colleen Hall who lives in Ithaca. Preceding her in death are 2 brothers Roger and Robert both of Ithaca. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed the time the family spent at Crystal Lake in Montcalm County where they had a cottage. Always a crossword puzzle fanatic The family will receive friends at the Avink Funeral Home in Schoolcraft, Saturday April 6, 2013 from 2 to 3:30pm. Cremation to follow.
