Lee, 88, passed away the evening of June 24, 2014, at Life Care Center of Plainwell where he had spent the last month of his life. He was the eldest of five children, born September 13, 1925 to Ivan and Hazel (Potter) Haney in Berlemont. He served his country as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Marian Mudget Brenner June 6, 1964. They celebrated their 50th anniversary at a small gathering at Life Care earlier this month. Lee was employed at Consumers Energy's gas distribution for 36 years, first as a pipeline welder and then for 18 years as a supervisor. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, playing cards, fishing and hunting and was always eager to assist with domestic chores and aid to family and friends in need. Lee is survived by his wife, Marian; daughters, Janet (Ron) Cozart; Norma (Enrique) Hope, Cathy (Blair) Bates, Karen Ann Haney; sons Marvin (Sue) Brenner; Roger Brenner, and Wayne (Ellen) Haney; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Duane, Albert and Jim; his sister Mary Lou Morris; his daughter Linda Conklin; and his son Michael Brenner. Burial took place at Earl Cemetery in Pine Grove Township. A memorial service and luncheon will be offered on Wednesday, July 2, at Gun Plain Township Hall from 2:00-4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Great Lakes Hospice or Chula Vista Garden Club.
