Les, age 79, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 14th as His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ came to welcome him to Heaven. Les was born September 24, 1940 in Detroit to Albert and Mae Collick, graduating from Detroit Cooley in 1958. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Jeanne Collick (Meyers), two sons, Alan and Russel Collick, daughter-in-law Stacy, brother Robert Collick, grandchildren Eryka and Ethan Collick, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceding him in passing were his parents, sister Joyce and brother Donald.
Growing up in Detroit, Les spent much of summertimes on cousin Fenner and Pickett farms. After moving to West Michigan in the mid-1960’s with his mother, Les enjoyed friends and family where his storytelling and personality will be remembered by all that knew him. It was this personality that won his wife Jeanne, and small son, Russel, over after a 3 year courtship as they were married in June 1975, in Martin, with lifelong friends Roy and Jill Anderson by their side. Les and Jeanne together had son, Alan, in 1979. Les had a lengthy career in sales with wholesale lumber being his passion. Les’ numerous hobbies and enjoyments included music, especially the trumpet, golfing, woodworking, hunting and shooting, but nothing was more important than his friends.
Les was a friend of Bill W for over 15 years and brought many others into the extended family. He took tremendous pride in his grandchildren Eryka and Ethan and their accomplishments, both academically and athletically. Les was always comfortable in his relationship with His Lord, Jesus Christ, and had been ready to depart this life for another when it came to be his time.
A memorial announcement will come at a later date.
