Erv Lewis, age 69, of Plainwell passed away on February 28, 2018 Life Care Center. Erv was born on September 26, 1948 to Julian & Mable (Gibbins) Lewis. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 6 at 4:00 p.m. at the Plainwell First United Methodist Church: 200 Park Street. Erv graduated from Plainwell High school. As a young man, Erv worked with his father as a polish and buffer on guitar pieces for Gibson Guitar. He enlisted in the Army right out of high school. As a Ranger, he served two terms in Vietnam with the rank of Sargent. During his 2nd tour he sustained a mortar injury which severely injured him and eventually put him in a wheelchair due to embedded shrapnel. Understandable, life was not always easy for Erv but he kept on. For a while, his granddaughter Courtney lived with him and assisted with his needs. Erv leaves behind 6 children: Brian Guernsey, Richard Abraham, Tina Rix, Juanita Marcon, Valerie Abraham and Ervin Jr.; his siblings: Joyce Morse, Pat Pillars Norm Lewis Debbie Barber and Sandy Lamorandier. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dawn Lewis, 2 nephews and 1 great nephew. Erv liked solitude and old movies. He loved to travel, drink coffee, watch stars and most of all, He loved his family very much. He was always up for a good adventure.
