Linda Lou Wilson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on August, 5, 2024. She was born on April 14, 1939, in Kalamazoo, MI to Russell and Hazel (Derhammer) Barney. Her life was marked by the love and joy she carried with her and was shared with all who knew her.
In her youth, Linda attended Vicksburg Community Schools, where she was a drum majorette in the marching band. Graduating with the Class of 1957 from Vicksburg High School, where she forged relationships and friendships that would span her lifetime. She was known by her peers for her spirited personality and positive outlook on life.
Linda’s career was a testament to her work ethic, commitment and dedication to her family. Starting at Stewart-Sutherland, moving on to Vista Business Forms, and then retiring from Doubleday Brothers & Co. She showed resilience and commitment in all that she did.
One of the fondest memories of Linda was her unwavering love for her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a great cook always preparing delicious meals that would bring everyone together. Her caring nature and thoughtfulness left a mark on all who knew her.
Described as empathetic, compassionate, and strong-willed, Linda touched the lives of many with her integrity and love. She found joy in simple pleasures like riding horses when she was young, bowling, playing the piano and accordion, as well as indulging in shopping trips even if she never bought much.
Among Linda’s proudest accomplishments was her marriage to John George Wilson, the love of her life. They tied the knot on October 19, 1984, when they blended their families together and embarked on memorable trips to Hawaii, Caribbean cruises, and many family trips to Florida. Their bond was a shining example of love and partnership.
Linda Lou Wilson will be deeply missed by her surviving family members: her loving husband John George Wilson, children, grandchildren, as well as friends who were fortunate enough to have known her. Though she may no longer be with us in person, Linda’s spirit will continue to live on through the cherished memories she leaves behind.
